Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After comment approval, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract this data from images on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.
When visiting the login page, a temporary cookie will check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Logging in sets several cookies to save your login info and screen preferences. Login cookies last two days, screen options one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login lasts two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie with no personal data—only the post ID. It expires in one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). This behaves as if the visitor visited the external website. These sites may collect data, use cookies, and monitor interactions, including if you are logged in to that site.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.
For registered users, we store the personal data provided in their profiles. All users can view, edit, or delete their data anytime (except usernames). Admins can also access and edit this data.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data. You may also request its deletion, except for data we must retain for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
